What Members are Saying

  • I dropped in to an 8 am class while visiting family. The website said "join for the fitness, stay for the community" which I find to be the best thing about CrossFit. The coach was super knowledgeable and led a good warm up. Everyone was super nice and supportive of each other

  • I’ve been a member at Resistance for 5 years now. They are able to help beginners start where they’re at as well as provide guidance and value to the experienced. Can’t recommend this place enough!

  • This place is amazing. I have been to a lot of boxes around the world and I can honestly say Resistance Athletics is one of my faves. The coaches are sooo friendly, I am always greeted with a huge smile and positive attitude. People are dope. Facilities are beyond top notch and the programming is legit. You are missing out if you are not here!!

  • I dropped in here while I was in Pasadena for the week. They have an awesome community, attentive coaches, and I can’t wait to stop in again when I am in town next. I would definitely recommend working out here!

  • Believe the hype!!! I am the opposite of a gym rat, but if you are, this place I'm sure would be great for you too. I got there a little early since I'd not been before. Mike was beyond welcoming, asked a few questions and told me a little what to expect. Everyone in the class (of 6 or so people at 8am on a Wednesday) was nice. Everyone was lifting different weight and me? I was lifting the bar, yep, just the bar and I felt just fine about that. I trust that eventually would have weights on it if I didn't live 500 miles away. The next morning I can tell I got a workout, I'm aware of muscles that haven't been used in a hit, but I'm not in pain, and for me that's the sweet spot. So. Bottom line? Go and commit. I wish I could. But do it for you.

  • I've been attending Resistance for a few years now and it is a jewel. The workouts are always challenging but not unapproachable. The coaches (and members) are great people and tailor their suggestions to what the individuals need. It is an amazing value for money. I highly recommend this gym for anyone who wants to push themselves but isn't interested in a "gym bro" vibe.

  • Resistance athletics is my FAVORITE place in Pasadena. The people, the workouts, the vibe, there’s nothing I don’t like about resistance. More than anything though, the community keeps me coming back. If you’re interesting in meeting some great people, regardless of your fitness level, come by!!

  • I was single, fat, and had no confidence. I wanted to change that so one day I dropped into resistance athletics and met coach mike and Pao. I was really nervous and intimidated because they were so strong! I wanted to be like them so they got me on an intense program to lose fat and get fit! Their fitness program worked so well that I even got the attention of one of the hottest girls at the gym. Lucky me! Thanks coach mike and Pao making me a better man Xoxo

  • If your ready to work your way to your peak fitness there really is no better group of trainers to get you there! Very supportive very professional, it's like a small Fittness family. They are very conscious of the safety of all and are always cleaning and we are tasked to clean after use with spray bottles and clean rags readily available. Do it sign up! You'll be glad you did!

  • Dropped in once and it was pretty easy to set it up. Their box is very spacious, clean and organized. The coach was explaining all the movements slowly just so everyone understands WOD. They also have weightlifting platforms if you want to work on your snatch :) Prices are reasonable and pretty affordable for unlimited classes. If you don't like barbell workouts they also offer HIIT which is a plus. Overall I'd definitely recommend to try this gym if you are in the area :)

  • Resistance Crossfit is an amazing space. They have a very knowledgeable staff and organize great community events. It's connected to a pizza shop and coffee shop so you get everything under one roof. More importantly their programming is great and very welcoming for new members. 10/10 Crossfit Gym.

  • I love this place with all my heart and soul periodt. Everyone's so nice and welcoming and progressive and I made so many new friends since joining. A really diverse gym with an equal ratio of men to women also which is an important thing to note for me personally. If you're in the Pasadena area and wanna give this place a shot, they have a free first day trial followed by a $10 for 10 days deal. Now go slay~

  • Resistance Athletics is more than a gym; it is a community of individuals who all support each other. Coaches are amazing and are always looking for any improvement that will help us lift heavier and maintain safe form. Before RA, I couldn't even lift a barbell and forget doing a snatch, now I can do both and feel confident in my abilities. It's not just weightlifting or "CrossFit" movements that you get better at; it is everyday things like picking up a box at work or going for a hike. Members and coaches are always cheering for each other. RA has become my second home, and there isn't another place like it.

  • This is not just a gym where you go to exercise - it's a community of support. CrossFit is new to me and the coaches, ALL of them, have been amazing so far. For that reason, along with the encouraging members, I continue to show up consistently. I would highly recommend anyone to give it a try.

  • If you haven't dropped in at Resistance Athletics, I highly recommend checking it out. I've been coming here for a few years and everyday is different and challenging. As a female, it's empowering to get stronger and working on movements that I never thought I could do. The best part of RA is the community and coaches!

  • I last reviewed Resistance four years ago, about a year after I came here from another local gym that was a mainstay in the community. What with Covid and all, a lot has changed in the gym-world since then. What initially brought me in the door at Resistance and then got me to stick around was the great people here and the awesome vibe. Whether you're an experience CrossFit athlete or someone taking your first steps into functional fitness, as long as you're a good person, there's a home at Resistance for you. If you're legitimately trying to go to the Games, there are better places for you to train. Similarly if you're looking for a gym that's a pick-up spot and like a Vegas pool party with more muscle, there are other places to go that'll be right up your alley. However if you're looking to be the best you, whether that means landing on the podium in local competitions, developing fitness that you can use to excel in your other athletic endeavors, or simply feeling more energetic and capable as you go through daily life, this is the place for you. If you want to make a lot of friends with people who will genuinely support you in your fitness journey, this is the place for you. If you want to be part of a true fitness community, this is the place for you.
